- Before you can use the Real Steel Second Screen app with your Blu-ray, you'll need to take the following simple steps:
- 1. Download and launch Real Steel Second Screen on your iPad or computer. (See How Do I Get The Real Steel Second Screen App?)
- 2. Insert your Real Steel Blu-ray movie in your Blu-ray player. Select BONUS FEATURES from the Blu-ray Main Menu, then choose PLAY MOVIE WITH Real Steel SECOND SCREEN: RINGSIDE WITH DIRECTOR SHAWN LEVY from the options list that appears.
- 3. Sync Real Steel Second Screen with your movie.
- To BD-Live Sync Real Steel Second Screen with the movie:
- You will need a BD-Live–enabled Blu-ray player, and both it and your iPad or computer must be connected to your local network.
- Once connected, choose SYNC WITH Real Steel BLU-RAY on your iPad or computer. The Real Steel Second Screen app and your Blu-ray Disc™ will then search for each other and sync automatically when you start the movie.
- To Audio Sync Real Steel Second Screen with the movie:
- Select SYNC WITH Real Steel BLU-RAY on your iPad or computer, then choose START AUDIO SYNC on the next screen that appears.
- Choose START MOVIE on your Blu-ray player. You're done!
- To Manual Sync Real Steel Second Screen with the movie (if BD-Live Sync and Audio Sync are not working or if there is external noise in the room):
- From the Blu-ray Main Menu page, select MANUAL SYNC and follow the onscreen instructions.

- Relax. Once BD-Live Sync has been established, it will Re-sync automatically.

- When you're ready to resume play, use the Blu-ray remote to select START COUNTDOWN. When the counter reaches GO on your TV, press GO on your second screen.

- The sync indicator is a numerical counter that keeps track of where you are in the experience. Your Real Steel Second Screen app is in sync with your movie when the sync indicators on both screens match. Sync is lost when you forward, rewind, pause or select a different scene on your Blu-ray (unless you are using BD-Live, which reestablishes sync automatically).
- If the sync indicators on the two screens don't match:
- Activate the Pop-up Menu on your Blu-ray remote and choose RE-SYNC or CHANGE SYNC.
- You'll need to re-sync on the iPad as well. From OPTIONS, choose RE-SYNC, then select AUDIO SYNC or MANUAL SYNC from the next screen that appears and follow the instructions.
- Make sure you choose the same sync option for both your Blu-ray player and second screen device.
- If the numbers in the sync indicators are off by one or two, it's okay—the experience will still work.

- You use the Timeline to navigate the Real Steel Second Screen experience. You can follow along with the movie, or explore any point along the way. As you check out a hotspot or gallery, the Timeline keeps track of your synced position. At the base of the timeline there are two indicators—one shows you where you are in the movie, and the other, where you are in the app. When you're done exploring, press the SYNC APP TO MOVIE button to bring you back in line with the movie. In BD-Live mode, you have two options—SYNC APP TO MOVIE or SYNC MOVIE TO APP.
- Navigation
- Navigation is easy—simply swipe right or left to move along the Timeline.
- Selecting
- Touch or click the image that appears in the Timeline's center box to bring it full screen. Tapping any full-screen image will allow you to interact with it.
- Return to the Timeline
- To return to the Timeline, press the TIMELINE button on the upper left of the screen.
- Gallery
- Choose the gallery icon to explore a gallery. The number on the icon indicates the number of images in the gallery.
- Scrolling—You can scroll through the gallery using thumbnails, or by swiping the full-screen image.
- Zooming—Pinch-to-zoom is available for iPad users, and zoom buttons are available for PC or MAC users.
- Hotspots
- Select the hotspot icon to access more information on a particular image. Hit the "x" to close the hotspot.
- Video Village
- The Video Valley icon leads you to behind-the-scenes footage. You can fast-forward, rewind or pause a clip.
- Visual Effects Showcase
- The Visual Effects Showcase includes:
- Visual effects sliders—Explore layers of effects and panoramic views.

- Explore the layers of effects in a sequence.
- Flick to Screen
- "Flick" features from your iPad to your TV.

- Real Steel Second Screen contains social media features that enhance and add another exciting layer to the experience. Connecting with Facebook and/or Twitter through Real Steel Second Screen while watching your movie allows you to participate in activities, and share with family and friends. All you need is the Real Steel Second Screen app and a Facebook and/or Twitter account. If you do not log in to a social network, the features for that network will not appear. Social media features are found on the Real Steel Second Screen app only and do not appear on the Blu-ray Disc.
- Check-ins
- Watching the movie with social media features activated allows you to check in to some of your favorite locations throughout the film and share this information on your Facebook or Twitter.
- Like
- You can "like" various activities and events throughout the Real Steel Second Screen experience, and then have the option to tell all your friends on Facebook and Twitter.
- Status Updates
- By completing an activity and choosing a share option throughout the movie, you can post messages to your Facebook wall in the form of quotes from your favorite characters.
